You thought I am going to write about Windows OS? Hm. Vista has a meaning even before Microsoft released Vista. But microsoft has brought this word into the most frequently used words. Anyway if you had thought I was going to write about Microsoft, you are right!
This post is not about my experiences in using Vista or troubleshooting stuffs. This is about why I am not persuaded to use it.
It’s heavily criticized. I already have a good oS. I use Fedora. I love the way linux is but I can’t avoid Microsoft’s os in my computer because my family members need windows. Sometimes I do need because of my college syllabus. I have had papers like Windows Programming. Thats why I can’t remove windows from my computer. While microsoft might have some good products, the os is really incapable when it comes to security vulnerabilities and some areas of programming.
So, I can’t live without windows, but why Vista? You still have some sort of support for windows XP and switching to Vista requires me so much upgrade to my hardware when it’s not necessary.
To my surprise many say approving of the looks of Windows Vista. I still like the looks of Windows XP more than the Vista version and using it will make my computer look dumb. I am of the opinion the 1GB ram I have makes my computer work faster. But that would change if I start using Vista.
I have also heard so much stories about incompatability with hardware. Many cry in my college because their computer running vista is not able to connect properly to the wireless network.
Whatever version of windows you are using, you are going to be alarmed if you plug someone’s pen drive into your machine. I serioulsy hate it.
Have you heard of 3-d desktop? Find a video on youtube. It was really wonderful!!
I ran suse with 3-d desktop with 256M main memory. Many assume that vista is slow becuase it has so much visual effects. While effects of the 3d desktop kind are possible with 256M ram why would Vista need so much of memory?
There might be many more reasons if I think, but obvious reasons as those listed are not going to make me switch to windows Vista.
But you aren’t going to stop using Vista, are you? Microsft will make you use it. I might be forced in the future to use it!!
